The Ultimate Nursing Queen FAQ: Access, Sizing, Pumping Tips & More
Do I really need nursing-specific clothes to breastfeed?
You don’t have to wear nursing clothes to breastfeed — but they make the process easier, faster, and more discreet. Regular clothes often require lifting from the bottom or pulling down from the top, which can leave you exposed or uncomfortable (especially in public). Not to mention when it's cold out, you don't want to take layers off just to feed your baby.
Nursing Queen clothes are designed to provide easy, discreet access so you can feel confident breastfeeding wherever you are.

Are your clothes suitable for both nursing and pumping?
Yes! All of our clothes are dual-function — meaning they work for both nursing and pumping, including wearable breast pumps like Elvie, Willow, or Momcozy.
We design our zippers and openings to be large enough to accommodate flanges or wearable pump inserts while keeping you covered and comfortable. Many moms even tell us they wear our tops to pump at work because it’s easier than fiddling with pump bras.
How discreet are the zipper designs? Will people notice I'm wearing a nursing top?
Not at all! We get comments like this all the time (and we love it): “I wore this to brunch and no one could tell it was a nursing top!”
Our zipper designs are hidden in seams or placed along natural design lines, so they blend in with the overall look of the garment. From the outside, they look like regular sweatshirts, dresses, or tops — with no obvious nursing features.

Do you have nursing clothes for work, beach trips or formal occasions?
Absolutely. In addition to our cozy sweatshirts and casual tees, we also offer elegant nursing dresses and scrub tops for healthcare professionals.
-
Nursing Scrubs: Designed for medical professionals who need to pump between shifts.
-
Nursing Dresses: Stylish enough for church, weddings, or professional events — with hidden vertical zippers for discreet access.
- Nursing Tankinis: Yes, you can nurse your little one at the beach or the pool (and keep your tummy covered).

Can I tandem nurse or pump with your clothes?
Yes — especially in styles with horizontal or double zippers. These designs allow you to nurse on one side and pump on the other, or even nurse two babies at once (great for twin moms).
Our dual-zipper designs make tandem feeding easier while keeping your midsection covered — no more juggling burp cloths just to stay modest.

How should I wash Nursing Queen clothes? Will the zippers hold up?
Our clothes are made for everyday wear, including frequent washing (because #momlife).
Washing Tips:
-
Machine wash cold on gentle cycle
-
Zip up all zippers before washing
-
Lay flat to dry or tumble dry low
-
Avoid fabric softeners or high heat (preserves fabric + zippers)
The zippers we use are high-quality and built to last — but a little care goes a long way in extending the life of your favorite nursing hoodie or tee.
Can I breastfeed in a carrier while wearing Nursing Queen clothes?
Yes — many moms find that our tops make nursing in a baby carrier much easier and more discreet. Styles with horizontal zippers or lift-up flaps allow you to nurse your baby without taking off the carrier.
-
Choose a soft structured carrier or wrap that allows baby’s head to be repositioned easily.
-
Use zipper-access tops so you can open one side and latch baby without lifting your whole shirt.
-
Always practice at home first, and make sure baby’s airway is clear while nursing.
Can I wear these clothes after I’m done breastfeeding?
Yes — and many moms do! Our goal is to design clothes that don’t look like nursing wear. Once your breastfeeding journey ends, you can keep wearing them like any regular shirt or dress. Many of our customers say they continue wearing our clothes for comfort, style, and versatility long after weaning.

What sizes do you offer? Do they run true to size?
We offer a wide range of sizes — typically from XXS to 3XL, depending on the style. Most of our clothes run true to size, but we always recommend checking the size chart on each product page.

Are your nursing clothes designed by moms?
Yes — and that makes a big difference. Nursing Queen was founded by a mom who was frustrated with the lack of stylish, comfortable, and functional nursing clothes. Everything we make is mom-tested, mom and baby-approved, and designed with real-life breastfeeding needs in mind.
