How Nursing Sweatshirts Work: Easy Access for Breastfeeding Moms

Fall is here, and cooler weather means sweater weather! We get a lot of questions from moms about how our nursing sweatshirts, hoodies and sweaters work. So here’s a quick guide to the different nursing options we offer — and how real moms use them to nurse and pump on the go.

All Nursing Queen styles are designed with hidden openings that make nursing and pumping simple and comfortable. Whether you prefer lift-up flaps or hidden zippers, every piece makes feeding your baby easier without sacrificing style.

🔹 Horizontal Zipper Nursing Openings

Many of our best-selling styles — like our nursing sweatshirts and hoodies — feature a horizontal two-way zipper with pulls on both sides. This smart design lets you:

  • Unzip one side at a time

  • Unzip both sides toward the center

  • Or unzip completely across

This allows full control and comfort depending on your preference. Moms love this design because it’s quick, easy, and totally discreet for nursing in public

Mom Leanna wrote us and said, "This hoodie has been my go-to top for my entire postpartum experience! It is the easiest top to throw on and still have easy access to breastfeed and pump. I live in these sweatshirts, I bought the blue one also! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

🔹 Slant Zipper Nursing Openings

Our oversized nursing sweatshirts have hidden slant zippers, allowing you to open one or both sides for tandem feeding or double pump

Mom Audrey said, " It's so soft and so comfortable, easy to nurse in and stylish. Immediately upon receiving I went and ordered the same style in dark gray, I love it that much."

🔹 Lift-Up Flap Nursing Access

Prefer a no-zipper design? We have you covered. Our lift-up flap sweaters make it easy to nurse or pump quickly, with built-in coverage from the top layer of fabric.

These styles are perfect for layering, lounging, or nursing on-the-go — and they double as a nursing cover for extra privacy.

Mom Sara wrote us and said, "I love this top! I'm a manager at a dental office and need to look professional, but also need to pump at work. This nursing top provides me the look I need, and ability to pump as needed. It is extremely comfortable as well."

🔹 Easy Pumping Access

Pumping moms especially love our horizontal zipper openings because the zipper can open fully, creating a large, adjustable opening for pump parts. That means no pulling or stretching your shirt — just unzip, attach, and pump hands-free.

💕 Why Nursing Clothes Make Breastfeeding Easier

You don’t need nursing clothes to breastfeed — but once you try them, you’ll see why so many moms love them.

Nursing Queen clothing helps you:

  • Feed your baby confidently anywhere

  • Pump easily without removing layers

  • Stay comfortable and stylish all day

For many moms, investing in a few great nursing-friendly sweatshirts and hoodies makes a world of difference in their breastfeeding journey (and helps them stay warm as the temps drop).
